"Danger"

I have been working a some fun fiber art.  The 1st is my deer picture called 'Danger'. The challenge of my Fiber Art Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/237798473026812/ was picking a thread color out of a bag, I got a grey blue color thread.   I didn't have any grey blue fabric in my stash so I went to the quilt store and picked 5 blue grey colors, light to dark.  Of course, I fell in love with the Batiks.  They were pricey but it was well worth it.  It really turned out great.  This is the beginning set up.  I used a pattern for the deer at Bernina's We all Sew (Luke Haynes) website. http://weallsew.com/2013/09/23/deer-quilt-sew-along-with-luke-haynes-week-one/  After I placed the deer, danger seemed to be lurking around every winter dark corner.  Run Deer Run.  The wolves are hungry.
Here is the finished quilt

I have been working on getting my pictures from phone to dropbox to my blog and this is how I have to do it?  I am stilling working on getting it from my phone to my blog directly.  This is becoming so confusing and if I die will anyone know where all the pictures are?    If anyone can give me any ideas on how to make this easier, please let me know.  maybe I will just have to go back to my phone and it's little chip.  It was much easier.
I also made my mother who is 89 and has Alzheimer's.  She loves matching shirts with her jackets because she is always cold.  We use to be able to purchase them in Shipsewana, Ind.  But I can't find where to purchase them anymore except thru a catologue so I made her a set with snowflakes.  She loves her pockets for all her Kleenex.

Scrappy Quilts for Miracle Mom and Son Nando 1st quilt

Close up of stitching, Lots of little tiny circles for little tiny miracles.

This will be a long post.  The Last two months have been a very difficult one for the Billups/Clark Family.  Jennie Billups/Clark was not feeling well with her 3rd pregnancy, Her hubby had taken their two other girls to the doctor, who were not feeling well either. While he was gone, Jennie had a stroke from Preclampsia - high blood pressure.  The nightmare began-  Their 3rd child, a boy, Fernando, (Nando) was delivered 2 months early to save Jennie and his life.  He weighted 2lb 6 oz, I think, and Jennie, after 2 seizures, slipped into a coma for several weeks, over a month.  My heart went out to my friends and it took me right back to when my 12 year old son fell off a high dive and hit a pipe into his head.     LIFE STOPS!
Nothing matters anymore:  Only Prayer, Waiting, Feeling Helpless, Listening, Not Sleeping, Wondering, Lost, and more Prayer.  So my Prayer quilts were born.  I grab colors that spoke to me from my scraps, happy colors, and it was so important to represent hope, love, and miracles.  It also had to be made from scraps because life is a patchwork of pieces, some square, some wonky but it all works together to show beauty in the raw.
It has been 2 months now, Nando is coming home from the hospital, almost 5 lbs and growing fast, Jennie is working hard at physical therapy, learning to speak, count, lift her limbs and make them move and through all of this she Laughs.  Yes Laughs!, Smile, Giggle!    We are having a baby shower on Sat at the Rehab and her son will be there too.  God is so Good.
Remember Life can stop at any moment: Embrace each moment, Savor each hug, Listen to each laugh and Know that God is in control.

Two "C's" Chickens, Creating

The Chicken Coop is done, thank you hubby!  He did a much better job than me, oh course, he could find the right tools.  The Three Haines girls are doing well.  They are trying to get through this 90 degree weather.  The favorite spot is on the grass under the ladder with their mouths open.  Chicken's don't sweat they say.  Cleo wants to chase them.  "Ok, girl, quit barking"  http://www.backyardchickens.com/  I can't believe I have chickens; they are fun.  Maybe I am a farmgal after all.  http://www.maryjanesfarm.com/

CREATING:  My new Project for http://www.creativechallengers2010.blogspot.com/ Again I have no clue what this will become, but I am stretching my chicken wings learning, hand dyeing, hand embellishing, and tension play.  Check back to see what this will become.  It is a mystery.  The colors in the 1st pictures are more exact and to me they look like the stratus, or layers of the Grand Canyon, what do you think?  Leave me a message! I would love to hear from you!   Chris
